An enjoyable day for the Rocks in not so enjoyable weather.
East Thurrock began the game with a lot of early possession and were pushing forward searching for an early goal with spells of good passing, however they were unable to find a decent shot to finish off the play. This was until Harry Prince opened the scoring with a back heel which beat the keeper and found the bottom corner.
After this the visitors seemed to wake up a little bit and had a few chances of their own, yet none of these really tested Tom Bruley in the Rocks goal. Harry Prince then came close to scoring again, his shot only just tipped behind for a corner.
The Rocks then doubled their lead when Jack Coventry followed up his saved shot, placing the ball into the net on the follow up. Immediately after this the hosts got a third when the Tiptree keeper miss kicked the ball hitting Jack Coventry in the stomach. Coventry was able to control the ball, go around the keeper and calmly slot the ball into an empty net to claim his second of the game.
The game got even better for the home side when Harry Prince scored again thanks to a free kick from keeper Tommy Bruley, putting the Rocks four in front just before half time.
Tiptree were better in the second half, keeping the ball in the opposition half and not allowing the hosts to get a shot away. This play was rewarded when Bruley accidentally kicked the ball to a Tiptree player, who took the opportunity nicely and put the visitors in the scoresheet. East Thurrock responded to this with another goal of the own courtesy of Coventry again. A shot from Tobi Adekunle was parried away by the goalkeeper and fell to Coventry who tapped it in to complete his hat trick.
The visitors came close to netting a second as their shot beat the Rocks’ keeper, but went narrowly wide. Despite this Tiptree did get a second just before the death, but it was too late to make a comeback. The final whistle blew marking an end to a highly enjoyable day for East Thurrock.
