East Thurrock Community Football Club Appoint First Ever Managers

Today we are pleased to announce John Coventry Junior & Kevin Scott as the first ever managers of East Thurrock Community Football Club.

John has spent time with East Thurrock United from 2009 to 2020 in various roles from youth teams, reserve team, scouting and coaching the first team. As well as his strong connection to football in the area he has also been assistant manager at Aveley, Great Wakering & Tilbury too.

Kevin has managed in the Olympian League previous at Laindon Orient & Stifford Clays Football Club. He has coached alongside John at both Great Wakering & Tilbury.

Jono Edwards, Vice Chairman said: “When I sat down and read through all 19 applications, of which there were a few very strong candidates, there was one that was always sticking out. I believe it’s a perfect fit for the football club and they have connections to many former rocks players. I have real faith in John and Kevin as well as the rest of there coaching team, that they will deliver for us on the pitch. They’ll work tirelessly with our Director Of Football John Coventry off of the pitch too as we keen improving the playing squad while going through the leagues. The fact that they have all worked together in the past was a big plus. I hope the owners are happy with our decision and I’m sure they’ll all agree with me when I wish John and the rest of his coaching team the very best of luck at the club.”

John Coventry Junior, First Team Manager said: “I have been involved with East Thurrock football since the age of 17, having the opportunity to now manage East Thurrock Community Football Club is a great privilege. Football means so much to the local area, community is at the heart of everything we are doing. We are from the local area and have the passion to build something special for the local fans as well as a pathway for local players to develop and play a good standard of senior football.”

Kevin Scott, First Team Manager said: “Our ambition is to build this new club and work with the fan ownership on growing and progressing as high as we can possibly go. We are in this for the long term and can’t wait to get started. This is an exciting project to be involved in, already with over 125 fan owners in only a month. Tomorrow we will be announcing a trial day for any interested, keep an eye out.”

In the coming weeks they will be announcing additional members of the coaching staff. The only role they are currently looking for is a physio for match days on Saturdays, if you know anyone that can help out please email eastthurrockcfc@gmail.com.
