Rocks take all three points on an historic day for the club

East Thurrock CFC marked their first ever match at Step 6 with a dramatic late victory, sealing all three points in a thrilling Thurlow Nunn debut.
The opening 45 minutes were a tight, evenly balanced contest. Both sides enjoyed spells of possession and half‑chances, but as the half wore on the Rocks began to settle, growing in confidence and rhythm, and edging their way into the game.
That growing belief was clear after the restart. The visitors came out for the second half with purpose, intensity and real assurance — and it paid off around the hour mark. Lewis Rowe produced a superb solo run, nodding the ball past the last defender before finishing cooly to give the visitors a deserved lead, writing himself into history books in the process.
From there, East Thurrock controlled the tempo and looked comfortable. But football rarely follows the script. With 86 minutes on the clock, a mix‑up at the back gifted FC Baresi an equaliser, sending a jolt of frustration through the visiting ranks.
Just as the Rocks seemed resigned to taking a point, they found one last moment of magic in the 98th minute. Freddie Barrett burst into the penalty area unmarked and met a perfect cross, guiding the ball home with composure to spark wild celebrations among the travelling supporters.
A late twist, a late winner, and a landmark victory: East Thurrock CFC head home with all three points from their first ever Step 6 outing — a debut to remember.
