Kings Park Rangers 2-1 East Thurrock Community FC
East Thurrock got off to the worst possible start, conceding within 3 minutes, as a set piece was flicked to the back post and was tucked into the top corner.
East Thurrock were defending resiliently, until Kings Park scored a second goal, with some intricate passing ending with a clinical finish giving the hosts breathing room.
One of the moments of the season occured in the 38th minute when Rocks’ keeper Tommy Bruley took a free kick from 60 yards, which bounced over the goalkeeper’s head into the net, giving East Thurrock a lifeline before half-time.
The Rocks came out lively in the second half and in the 50th minute Harry Prince burst through, but had his effort saved and the rebound cleared off the line by the backtracking defender.
It was a really encouraging display for East Thurrock, despite the hosts pushing for top spot and having multiple players that have played at a higher level, they showed fight and team spirit to remain in the game.
Kings Park Rangers looked to get the game wrapped up but the Rocks kept them out, as they created a few half chances in an attempt to earn a point.
It was not meant to be in a very stop-start match as East Thurrock just came up short, with it ending 2-1 to the hosts.
Despite defeat, there was many positives to take away from it for East Thurrock who now look towards a vital match next weekend against Tiptree Heath at Wlydecrest.
