5 goal Rocks cruise to successive victories
Another convincing, 3 goal victory for East Thurrock, after defeating Alresford 3-0 last time out, they today beat White Notley 5-2 to continue the positive start to the campaign.
The first chance came in the 7th minute, as Tommy Barnacle made a lot out of just a routine clearance, lobbing the keeper but striking the outside of the post.
However, 3 minutes later he would find himself on the scoresheet. It was a goal of real quality, with Harry Daly and Kieron Miles combining, the latter feeding through Barnacle, who at the second attempt put the Rocks in front.
It is now 2 goals in 2 games for the Rocks’ forward.
After 24 minutes, there was breathing space for the hosts, as Harry Prince earned his side a penalty. The club’s top scorer last term took the penalty himself and cooly placed it into the top corner, opening his account for the campaign.
5 minutes out from halftime, the side in yellow and black had a 3 goal lead, with Zach Bussell bursting down the right and firing in a cross to Harry Salter, who won the first contact then headed in for 3-0.
The hosts were flying at this stage, and inflicted more pain on the visitors, with Prince grabbing a second, finishing from 10 yards after the goalkeeper dropped his previous effort.
East Thurrock did not stop after the break, and Prince came inches from his hat trick, with a cross from Salter barely missing the number 20 who had an open goal.
10 minutes into the second period, the visitors scored a consolation, after winning a penalty a cooly converting.
But 7 minutes later, an element of doubt was thrown into the game, as Notley were awarded a second penalty for apparent pulling of the shirt. This time Tommy Bruley in the Rocks’ goal saved the kick, but the rebound was scrambled in, reducing the East Thurrock lead to just 2.
There was relief after 72 minutes when the win was secured, with Kieron Miles scoring on the edge of the area after a short corner routine.
That was the final goal, concluding a 7 goal game, of which East Thurrock scored 5.
It is now 2 wins out of 2 for the Rocks, both by 3 goal margins, as they continue this positive start to their second campaign. They will try and make it 3 out of 3 next Saturday when they host Thorpe Athletic and then host Sudbury Sports just 2 days later hoping to build on a solid start to the season.
